Fees and Funding
All of our therapy is provided by Chartered Clinical and Counselling Psychologists
Individual therapy sessions (self-funded) £120 / 50 minutes
Couples / family sessions (self-funded) £140 / 50 minutes
Clinical letters and reports £60 / page
Our insurance fees are agreed with individual providers.
Following your initial assessment, should you wish to carry on working with us, we will reserve a weekly time slot for you to ensure continuity of your sessions. Any cancelled sessions during your ongoing therapy are charged at 50% of appointment fee. If you are away, any sessions can be replaced by Skype sessions. You can end your therapy at any point by giving us 48 hours notice before your next session.
There are a number of ways to cover the costs of your therapy:
Self Funding
There are many reasons why our clients choose to self fund. It may be for example because their GP referral has a long waiting list and they would like to be seen before the condition deteriorates. Alternatively it could be because they would like more choice and control over the amount and type of therapy received.
You do not need a GP referral to access our services.
The fees can be paid by any credit or debit card, except American Express. We will ask you for your card details when booking your first session. The fees are collected from your card after each appointment.
Private Health Insurance
Many health insurance plans cover private mental healthcare and we welcome clients wishing to have treatment with us under their insurance policy. We are registered with the major insurance companies, including BUPA, Aviva, Vitality Health, WPA and Cigna.
In order to use your health insurance, please call your insurance company and provide them with the name of the Fernwood Psychologist you are going to be seeing. They will then issue you with a pre-authorisation code for a set of sessions.
At your first session at Fernwood, we will ask you for the following information:
-Your policy / plan number;
-Pre-authorisation code;
-Policy excess (the contribution you are required to pay towards your therapy);
-Limit on funding (for example, 6 sessions or 10 sessions). Insurance companies typically pre-authorise an initial set of sessions, which can then be extended depending on the need.
Please note that insurance providers do not cover missed appointment fees, which would be invoiced to you directly. We will ask for your card details when booking your first session.
